5 Proven Strategies to Grow Your Facebook Fanbase
Strategy 1: Link your Personal Facebook Profile to your Fanpage
For complete, step-by-step details on this, please visit my blog previous blog post on this. As stated before,
this should be as simple as the following:
- go to your Facebook profile & click “edit profile”
- select “education and work”
- type in the name of your fanpage page in the “employer field”
- click “add employer” or “add a project” depending on page category
This should be a simple procedure; however, there seems to be glitch in Facebook where this may not automatically populate for some users. If you find this is the case, please follow the 4 steps in my previous post to work around this situation.
Strategy 2: Put your Facebook Fanpage Link in your Email Signature
Many people follow this strategy, but some do not realize this or they overlook it so I thought I would mention it here. It is a good idea to add your facebook fanpage link to your email signature, along with with any other social links you may be active in. Many people add their Twitter and YouTube links along with their Skype usernames so that they are easily accessible.
If you are interested in putting social icons in your email signature, check out wisestamp.com. You can put in your picture, a link to a blog post, a famous quote, and/or icons linking to your favorite social media sites. Another strategy is to link to a squeeze page (lead capture page) to help you grow your mailing list. For best results, make a statement as to “why” the reader should want to like your fanpage or join your list.
Strategy 3: Embed Videos onto your Facebook Page and Blog
You can just load your videos on Youtube and link from your Facebook page to Youtube for people to check out your videos or you can put a Youtube application on your Facebook page. However, there is a huge advantage to actually uploading your videos directly to Facebook. You can take the Facbook source code and embed it on your own blog. If people are logged in to Facebook and they are watching Facebook embedded videos on your blog, they will see a Like Button pop up for your page. Your viewer can click the like button and never leave your video or blog site. They will automatically become a fan of your page and their posts will show up in your newsfeeds. If your viewer decides to share your video with their friends, they too will see the like button and have the opportunity to become a fan of your page as well.
Strategy 4: Do a Giveaway
Another strategy to get more likes to your fanpage is to have a contest or a giveaway. You could make it to where the only requirement for consideration or entry is to be a fan of the page by clicking the like button. The more people who click your like button, the more your content will get into the newsfeeds so that people can see your information on an ongoing basis. You can also promote your giveaway on other social media sites and place banners linking to your fanpage encouraging visitors to click the like button. If you do follow this strategy, it is best to giveaway something that is connected to your market or niche so that you are attracting better prospects for your business.
Facebook has strict rules regarding contest and giveaways and requires that they be administered through applications that meet certain requirements. Technically, you could possibly build your own application, but it’s more prudent to use one of the many third-party one that are available online such as Wildfire.
Strategy 4: Get Social!
This is easier said than done because you have to spend the time to develop relationships online. It is best to get involved in conversations where your ideal audience is already active and you go in and contribute relevant and useful information. Remember to act like a peer of the group and not as someone trying to sell something. Use Facebook search and the directory to find active pages that complement your niche and become an active participant in the conversations.
Real relationships online can ultimately convert into paying clients, but this only happens when you develop friendships over time and offer value or solutions to problems people may face.
4 Steps to Link Your Facebook Profile to Your Fanpage
Suppose you have a Facebook profile that you use for personal use and a fanpage for business or a particular interest you may have and you want to link from your profile to your fanpage.
Sometimes it is as easy as going to your profile, clicking editing profile, selecting education and work, and typing in the name of your page in the employer field. It might pop up and link to your fan page, but there is a glitch in Facebook and many people have trouble linking the two pages.
If you are one of them, here are the 4 steps to make this happen:
Step 1 – Firefox Web Developer Add On
You will need to use the Mozilla Firefox browser for this step. Do a search for “web developer ad on” as you will need this add on for Firefox. Download it, install it, and you will have a new toolbar to use for step 4 or any other time you may need.
Step 2 – Copy Your Page ID Number
First, you will go to your Facebook fanpage and click “edit page”. On the left side, you will click on “Basic Information”. Once on the basic information page, you will go to the URL at the top to retrieve your page ID. Your page ID will be a long series of numbers in the URL that follow?ID=.
Select, copy those digits, and paste them in an editor if need be. Remember, you only want the numbers; if you went pass the &, you went too far.
Step 3 – Add Your Fanpage Name to Your Facebook Profile
Go back to your personal profile, click edit profile, and then “education and work”. Here you will type in the exact name of your fanpage. It may or may not pop up, but either way make sure you type it in exact and hit enter and you will add it regardless.
Step 4 – Paste Your Fanpage ID# into the Form
While still on your personal profile edit page, click “education and work” if you are not there. This is where you will need the Firefox Web Developer Tool bar. While on the education and work page, go to your tool bar and click “Forms”, which is the 4th option from the right, and then click the first option “Display Form Details”. You will see a bunch of “yellowish code” pop up. This is what you want.
Scroll down until you see Employer: input name=”employer_id”, and a gray input box. In this box, put the Fanpage ID# you copied earlier.
Now, when you go to your personal profile in Facebook, you should have a link to your fanpage.

NuclearBlogger.com
My buddy, Pete Chapman (founder of GES) , and Matt Newill have started a membership site called Nuclear Blogger.
I’m posting this for two reasons:
1.) I love Pete! I just listened to him on a cool webinar for GES and learned some valuable information. He knows a great deal about blogging and I’m sure this membership will be worth it.
2.) If you go there before April 1st, you can get in for FREE! (You would be a fool not to – wink, wink,- Just kidding )
On the webinar, Pete said they will be charging $20 or $30 a month so you may want to go there before April 1st. When I logged in and got my Clickbank afillliate link, the price on there was $47.
Anyway, if you want to check it out before they start charging admissions, go to NuclearBlogger.com
See ya there,

“Good Girl is Gonna Go Bad” by Tammy Wynette
Here is my new country band, Boot Hill , doing
“Good Girl is Gonna Go Bad” by Tammy Wynette:
MP3 play whole song, hi-fi (broadband)
(((Click the link above to open the audio player.)))
The female vocalist, Amenah, does a fine job of capturing the feel and purity of Tammy Wynette’s voice. I heard several versions of this tune, but we went with the one where it is Wynette with her step-daughter Donna Chapel.
Friday, February 24th, we will be at Cadillac’s Saloon in LaPlace, LA from 10:00 pm to 1:45. Then on Saturday, February 31st we will be back at Boomtown Casino where they will be giving away a Mercedes-Benz.
If you like the tune above, please come by TheBootHillBand.com and show some Facebook love.
Thanks,
Nathan
TSA Mastery Newbie Jitters
Last night I was introduced to a new blogging concept called TSA Mastery. On one hand I’m very excited and anxious to get involved, and on the other it looks a bit overwhelming at first glance.
The overall theme is to join what they call “tribes” to help each other generate traffic for our blogs. It is a true people helping people environment. I wanted to get started last night, but was completely overwhelmed and I was a bit tired as my daughter and I marched in a 4 mile Mardi Gras parade.
I went back in today to see what I can figure out, and based on the “activity spreadsheet” I think I am waiting to officially get an invitation. Last night, I missed that message and started commenting on blogs. No harm, no foul as I enjoyed the information I read.
The video I just watch was of Gavin Mountford explaining the 3 step process of:
Connecting, Commenting, and Sharing.
Each week you will be assigned a tribe and are encouraged to connect with your tribe members, comment on their blogs, and syndicate their content through social media. In turn, they will do the same for you. It is truly a give and you will receive system.
At this point (2nd day reading about it), I’m still a little nervous as I am the type of person who doesn’t want to join a tribe and let my team down, so I want to make sure I’m properly informed of what I need to do.
I’ll keep reading and watching videos until I get an actual notice. I am REALLY looking forward to taking advantage of this system.
Hope to meet you in TSA Mastery one day!

Krewe of Alla
This is my daughter, Veronica, and me before marching in the Krewe of Alla parade on Sunday, February 12, 2012. Veronica is on the dance team and I work at the school so we marched.
We lined up on General DeGaulle Avenue in Algiers and I noticed a man video taping the band. I did a double take, and asked Dustin Hymel, the band director if the man taping the band was who I thought it was. Dustin confirmed that it was indeed Allen Toussaint!
When Toussaint was in ear shot of the drum major, I joking told the kid to cue up “Working on a Chain Gang” which is one of my favorite one of his songs. He laughed and told me “I heard that”
My daughter is way more popular than I am and had many people screaming at her as we marched, but I did get to see a few people I haven’t in quite a few years.
For my Shaw friends, Charlie Giardina was near the beginning and I almost didn’t recognize him with the Grizzly Adams beard.
For my UNO friends, I saw F.J. Hebert on Terry Parkway. We were moving quickly so I didn’t get a chance to talk to him much, but he looked good and it was good to see him.

The Perfect MLM System
Here I am, setting up my Aweber autoresponder account to work with the Global Elite Marketing System and all of a sudden my follow up messages went from a 1.5 to a whopping 11.5 S.A. score.
What did I do? I didn’t have all kind of ludicrous statements in the message.
I clicked on the 11.5 and it said I had DOB, which was short for “Day Old Bread”.
In other words, I had just purchased two new URLS. One for this blog, and another to link to GES.
That one is: http://www.thePerfectMLMSystem.net
Both URLS are under 5 days old so they were considered DOB which ran the score up.
At this point, I could wait 5 days to see what happens or just put in the URL above with the redirect and see how it goes.
It will all work out, but I had never had this happen so I figured I”d blog about it in case anyone needed to know.
